Production techniques

The MAREA manifacturing process comes from our experience in designing and producing "fitting" custom wetsuits: our aim is to bring you a unique, perfectly fitting product.

Seams detail - Dettaglio cucitureAll our models are created using, both on the outside and the inside, smooth, non-filtering seams made with two different yarns: a thinner one on the inside to avoid skin irritations and a thicker one on the outside to ensure a better water insulation. All the borders are finished.

We put a special care in the sticking phase, especially regarding the neoprene chemical preparation treatment and the compound, composition, treatment and fixing of the glues, this guaranteeing the maximum resistance and durability of our wetsuits.

For every single wetsuit we produce, we also carefully study the shape of every component so that the final result is a perfectly fitting, extremely confortable product.

The benefits of these comprehensive manifacturing approach are:

  • Improved thermal insulation: a reduced thermal dispersion is guaranteed by the insulation properties of stickings and seams.

  • Comfort: our wetsuits are specifically designed for our customers, so that they perfectly fit to their bodies. The absence of skin irritations is guaranteed by efficient and elastic stickings and seams and stealth effectiveness is provided by the exclusive design of mimetic patterns.

  • Durability: carefully executed stickings and seams, first-choice materials, careful application of mimetic patterns and a studied design make MAREA wetsuits extremely durable. You can use our wetsuits without concern even in the thoughest situation, being sure that they won't fail and that they will mantain their excellent characteristics after years of usage.

Opencell neoprene detail - Dettaglio neoprene spaccatoThe whole MAREA product range is created using the best qualities of Japanese neoprene to ensure the best possible thermal insulation properties and the maximum comfort in every diving situation.

The choice of a high quality neoprene (like the Japanese ones) allows MAREA to produce a wetsuit that is much more resistant to stresses and strains than any other cheaper "low-end" product.

The peculiar elastic structure of neoprene, allows to dissipate the stresses acting on the whole surface of the wetsuit (and therefore on the diver's body), dramatically reducing the effect of negative forces on critical points: neoprene, when stressed, reacts and adapts dissipating forces while wrapping the diver in a second skin.

Thermometal neoprene detail - Dettaglio neoprene spalmatoWhen necessary, thermal isulation can be further improved using "Thermometal" inner coating which retains and uniformly distributes the human's body warmth, helping the diver to better resist to the water's cold temperature thus ensuring longer diving times.

A new, excusive and innovative type of neoprene has been recently introduced to our materials range: Shark Skin.
We have been inspired by how sharks adapt to the ever changing conditions of the water flow around their tapered, coarse-skinned body: the peculiarity of their skin helps sharks to neutralize the effects of whirls and unpredictable behaviour of water flows around them, therefore allowing them an always optimal sliding effect. We have tried and succeded to provide the same effect to our customers by designing a kind of neoprene with a rough, irregular surface studied to reduce the attrition between water and the wetsuit therefore limitating the "drag" effect and improving its sliding properties.

The perfect mix of carefully chosen materials, exclusive manufacturing techniques and Italian craftmanship will bring you a wetsuit that, in time, will keep its elasticity, thermal insulation capability, mimetic effect and comfort.
